The Central University of Technology, Free State is proud to host the HELTASA 2020 conference from 30 November – 03 December 2020, online under the theme “Creating enabling learning spaces for all”

The HELTASA conference is held during a period where the coronavirus pandemic is not only challenging the teaching and learning approaches but has exposed South Africa’s inequalities in the allocation of resources between universities as well as the readiness of universities to cater for students and lecturers who, because of their backgrounds and circumstances, do not have access to technological devices. In the process of moving from traditional classroom teaching to remote or virtual teaching and learning the need to address these prevailing inequalities is highlighted. It is against this backdrop that university teachers should be encouraged to re-evaluate their teaching strategies and use innovative approaches that will enable all the students to equally participate and learn effectively. HELTASA 2020 conference aims to present an opportunity for academics in Southern Africa to hold conversations on how to “create enabling learning spaces for all”.

The Conference Scientific Committee has opened a final call for the submission of abstracts for oral and poster presentations from 15-25 September 2020. It is important for participants to note that the call for full papers will no longer be a requirement for the current conference. Participants are encouraged to use various online tools for narrated presentations such as Google Slides, Prezi, Powtoons, Snagit, Visme etc.
